Gua sha is a traditional Chinese healing technique that involves a combination of pressure and scraping motions to improve circulation, release tension, and encourage healing, both on the skin’s surface and within deeper tissues.
Used correctly, Gua Sha is a VERY safe practice. This requires practice and recognizing when you are pushing the limits too far.
Gua Sha is safe for all skin types, but should not be used in conjunction with chemical treatments, open wounds or acne, or with any skin conditions.
The effectiveness of Gua Sha can vary depending on how it's used and the individual’s skin conditions. However, many people experience noticeable benefits in both the short and long term. Short term benefits seen in a few uses can include:
